Chapter 5

Fast paced. That was what came to mind as Idonia sat in yet another agency waiting area. It was the final day of the video shoot, Wednesday, and the second day of her changing life. Not only had she had a blast taking pictures with Definite, she had scored another quick modeling gig with an online fashion magazine modeling hip hop wear, and somehow agents had gotten her number, although Hilda swore she hadn't given it out. Idonia had been fielding calls left and right from people eager to be her agent and help her model.

Between her newly busy schedule and Alton's busy schedule, it had been impossible to talk to him, but Idonia was confident he wasn't straying back to Sharbronae. In fact, things at the hotel room had gotten unbearable exactly because of that factor. Idonia was planning on moving to her private room upstairs as soon as she got done with the photo shoot for the fashion mag.

"The director will see you now," said the friendly man at the front desk. He pointed down the hall where she was to go, and Idonia nervously walked to the back.

She went through several outfit changes—all the clothes costing more than a car payment---and changes to her hair and makeup. The shoot lasted a full four hours on top of the six she had spent at the movie studio earlier filming the last of the music video.

By the time she was done, her cheeks hurt from smiling and her feet hurt from posing. She tiredly sat back down with the editor and the photographer.

"These are good," said the willowy editor.

The scruffy, hipster photographer inclined his head in agreement. "What'd I tell you? She's got the look."

"That you do have, Ms. Carter," the editor smiled. "Ike here is going to text you some pics for your social pages. You can feel free to post those for your fans. I think this spread is just what the spring issue needs. You look fantastic."

Idonia smiled and blushed. "Thank you," she said softly. Pictures to post for her fans? Perish the thought. She was a regular girl from Mississippi. What fans?

But, when she finally made it to the hotel, weighed down with bags and bags of clothes that had been given to
